Brooks comments from today's press conference

Rich Brooks had the following comments at today's press conference.

On Chris Matthews: "He brings something we don't have at the receiver position: Size. He's 6-foot-6 and he can run and he can catch the ball."

On his team: "We are clearly better then we were at this time last year"

On DE position: Chandler Burden likely moves to right end (JJ spot). The left end position is a race between DeQuin Evans, Collins Ukwu and Taylor Wyndham.

On QB position: "In my mind, there is no question who our starting quarterback is. Mike Hartline is our guy"

On Danny Trevathan: "He is a big-time playmaker" He will make a major impact this season if he stays healthy. Brooks also compared him to 4-5 star high school recruits. Very-fast and athletic.

On Will Fidler: He stated that Will Fidler is the #2 QB right now.

On Special Teams: Brooks is concerned about the kicking game. He said that Tim Masthay has spoiled the Cats over the past few years. He does expect the special teams to be very good, especially the return game with Cobb.

On Randall Cobb: Brooks said in his heart Cobb wants to play QB, but knows his best shot at the next level is at WR.

On Leadership: Brooks said the leadership is starting to spill over from each class and that he is not concerned.

On EJ Fields: Brooks said Fields has the talent, but he needs to see the production.

On Offensive Line: Brooks said they lost some good players, but have great experience returning and the most depth they have ever had.

On WR Brian Adams: Adams had a blood clot and almost died over the summer, he won't be ready until next spring.

The team also announced that Derrick Locke will miss the first three days of practice due to a death in the family.
