UK ranks dead last in the SEC in 3rd down defense. The stats don't lie, so UK needs to tighten up their 3rd down pass coverage. Also, the defensive line must get a better push on 3rd downs. UK didn't play well on 3rd down against La-Monroe and their QB picked apart the secondary.
Do you want UK to wear black uniforms against Mississippi State? Click here for John Clay's poll on the topic. Personally, I think it would be cool for the team to wear all black uniforms for one game.
The State Journal writes that the Cats are better but not quite there yet. There is no question that injuries have plagued this team. In my opinion, it cost UK the South Carolina game and could have a major impact on the rest of the season too. UK could potentially play Saturday's game against Mississippi State without their starting quarterback, cornerback and middle linebacker. All three are game changing players, especially on defense. The article also talks about UK's depth which has always been a factor for UK playing in the SEC. UK has finally started to build some depth, but the players don't have the experience. Take guys like Morgan Newton and Martavious Neloms, both are playing as true freshmen because they have the talent. UK will continue to recruit good players and the football program's best years are still to come. Fans just need to be patient.
The Cincinnati Enquirer writes that Cobb does it all for the Cats. No one can argue with that statement. Randall Cobb is amazing and I agree with Joker Phillips' comment, "He just has it, I don't know what it is, but I'm glad we have him." I'm almost ready to start the Randall Cobb for Heisman campaign for 2009. I can honestly say that I wouldn't trade Cobb for any other player in the country right now. He is that good.
