Sunday UK Football Links and Notes

ESPN gives their SEC Bowl predictions and has the Cats playing in the Independence Bowl against a Big 12 team. First, the Cats need to take care of Vanderbilt to become bowl eligible and then try to build on their resume.

Larry Vaught writes that Sam Maxwell is having fun and playing well. Maxwell has been a huge part of UK's defense this season and should garner post season accolades. The linebacker is leading the team in interceptions and Rich Brooks is not surprised by his play.

Can UK survive three more weeks? That is the question of the entire Big Blue Nation. UK must focus on Vanderbilt before they start thinking about Georgia. If UK can get healthy, they have a shot at winning out in my opinion.

No Cobb, Locke or Hartline? No problem writes Mark Story. The Cats managed to take care of business against Eastern Kentucky without their trio of playmakers. While the Cats started out a little flat several freshman played well. Morgan Newton, LaRod King and Donald Russell all made plays and showed UK fans a glimpse of the future.

ESPN 150 Recruit Keenan Allen (Greensboro, NC) committed to Alabama this weekend. UK had offered Allen along with some of his teammates. Based on reports, Allen was down to Alabama, Oregon and Clemson. Several of Allen's teammates have committed to Oregon. It doesn't appear that UK was ever given serious consideration so his commitment should come as no surprise.
