Brett Dawson writes about the Cats being Bowl eligible after defeating Vandy today. Congratulations to the entire UK Football Program for becoming bowl eligible for a fourth consecutive season. If UK can defeat Georgia and Tennessee, they can finish second in the SEC East which would be another huge accomplishment.
ESPN gives a shout out to the Cats for becoming bowl eligible. As the article states, this may be Rich Brooks' biggest accomplishment considering the injuries this team has faced. UK started the season without Jeremy Jarmon who was ruled ineligible and then lost Trevard Lindley, Paul Warford and Mike Hartline for extended periods of time.
The Cats ground game pounds Vandy in 24-13 win. Derrick Locke rushed for 144 yards on 25 carries and one touchdown while Randall Cobb rushed for 99 yards on 14 carries with two touchdowns. Both Locke and Cobb played with heart and determination against Vanderbilt, which lead Joker Phillips to call them "warriors" after the game.
John Clay thinks the Cats may have what it takes to win out. When the Cats are ticking on all cylinders, they present a difficult matchup for opposing teams. The Cats still need to improve their quarterback play heading into Georgia and the receivers need to step up. LaRod King continues to impress and will become a house-hold name across the Blue Grass State soon. As King and Chris Matthews continue to learn, they will make a great receiving core for Morgan Newton or Mike Hartline.
Derrick Locke's passing ability is no surprise to him. Locke was a quarterback in high school and has the confidence to make plays. The article also talks about Mike Hartline and whether the QB should be shut down for the season.
