A couple of recruiting notes

A lot of people are "freaking out" over Anterio Sloan not being a Cat now. Yes, he was rated as a four star recruit, but stars don't mean everything. We have seen time and time again that recruiting stars are not what they are cracked up to be. There are reports that Sloan decommitted and there are reports that UK pulled the offer. If UK pulled the offer, chances are they have someone else ready to come.

Another thing to remember heading into signing day next week is the Cats only have 12 schollys for 2011. Therefore, the staff isn't going to fill the class just because they can. The Cats want to make sure they are getting the best possible talent. Most true freshmen will not play immediately at UK, especially with the recruiting job the staff has done in recent years. I'm not sure that Mike Thornton would play immediately if he chooses UK. I think it's pretty safe to say that Joker wants to take more kids next year with his new staff than his current staff.

If you have been following this site, you already know the names of potential key commits. If you haven't been (shame on you). Just kidding, check the posts from yesterday as we did a breakdown.

I believe UK signs 2-3 more recruits for 2010. Watch the Rajaan Bennett situation closely as reports are coming out that Rajion Neal (who UK recruited is now considering Tennessee). I'm sure Dooley would like to have both, but Bennett could end up a Cat if Neal goes to UT.

Also, David Turner has connections with Juco schools in Mississippi, so don't be surprised if the Cats another Juco player in this class. Joker is counting on Summers and Turner to make an impact on this year's class. As usual, there is usually a signee or two that fall from the sky.
