Lindley & Smith to play in All Star Games

UK announced yesterday that Alfonso Smith and Trevard Lindley will play in different All-Star games. I'm sure both players made the decision to play hoping it will increase their NFL stock. Neither player had the senior season they hoped to have.

Lindley becomes the 30th UK football player to accept an invitation to the Senior Bowl. The game will be played on January 30th at 4 pm EST in Mobile, Ala. The game will be televised by the NFL Network. Lindley totaled 189 tackles, 10 interceptions and a school-record 43 pass breakups during his career at UK Lindley is probably most know for his game changing play ability. Everyone will remember his interceptions at Georgia and against No 1 LSU.

Alfonso Smith will play in the Texas vs. the Nation, sponsored by the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The game will be played on February 6th at 2 pm EST in El Paso, Texas. The game will be televised by the CBS College Sports cable channel. Alfonso Smith has always been known for his blazing speed. Smith rushed for 957 yards and eight touchdowns during his Kentucky career and caught 30 passes for 322 yards and two TDs. Smith also played special teams for UK and likely could receive a shot on a NFL team for special teams. As many coaches will tell you, you can't coach speed!

Both players helped lead UK to four consecutive bowl appearances and three bowl wins. They have been part of a class that has helped change the UK football culture. Make sure you tune in and watch these seniors play in their last collegiate game. GO CATS!
