Henry Mitchell (2011-TE) Recruit Update

Last night I had the opportunity to interview Henry Mitchell (Elizabethtown, KY) regarding his recruitment. Henry told me the recruiting process is going well and he just got back Cincinnati's Junior Day. He is also receiving interest from Illinois, Louisville, Western Kentucky, Duke, N.C. State, Purdue, Indiana, Memphis, South Carolina and Michigan. Currently Mitchell has no offers, but expects schools to start offering soon with Cincinnati, Illinois and Louisville recruiting him the hardest.

As stated above, Henry attended Cincinnati's Junior day, but was also invited to South Carolina and Western Kentucky as well. Both Indiana and Wisconsin have invited him to attend their spring practice. When asked about the deciding factors in choosing a school he said, "Playing time is a big one, location and relationship with the coaching staff".

Henry plans on attending the May 1st Nike Combine at Ohio State and is undecided on which summer camps he may attend. He plans on taking all of his visits and deciding after his Senior season. Most schools are recruiting him to play Tight End as he is listed at 6'5" tall and 240 lbs. He currently runs a 4.8 forty-yard dash. Grades will not be an issue as he is already registered with the NCAA Clearinghouse.

Henry did attend UK's camp last year and grew up a Kentucky fan. Based on our interview, the Cats don't appear to be recruiting him at this point. Henry's is currently playing basketball and will take more visits once his basketball season is finished.

  1. I know UK signed a good tight end this year

If this player is a good player. Would hate to see
UK pass on someone 6-5 240 lbs in state.

    Does he play defense too.
