Xavier McFadden (CB) has committed to South Carolina State for the 2010 class. McFadden recently visited State and had a good time on his visit. UK had been involved with McFadden and his recruitment was extremely strange in my opinion. McFadden attended camp at UK and the staff was impressed. McFadden and his father visited UK for the Florida game and tried to commit, but at the time UK wasn't taking many early verbals. I'm happy for Xavier and his family as the recruiting process was extremely frustrating for them. Xavier wanted to play at UK, but it just didn't work out. It would not surprise me if Xavier receives a bigger offer between now and signing day. The cornerback played in the NC/SC Shrine Bowl and has one of the better highlight tapes I have seen.
Based on my last conversation with Xavier's father, there was still some classwork that needed to be taken care of, which is likely what kept him from receiving more offers. His father told me that Xavier was expected qualify and be cleared after this past semester. Sometimes with the clearinghouse this can drag out.
One more thing, how does this kid go from a 3-star recruit to a 2-star recruit? I can't imagine it's because he committed to South Carolina State? Really? The star ranking system is a joke, this kid can play.
