Watchlist #11-20 The Final Call
Once you get started posting something like this, you see how hard it is to just end it; however, there are a few more offensive players that we should look at, just to see where they might fit in.
11. Joe "The Man" Mansour-- Why? He should take over for L Seiber as the placekicker. His high school career is of legend. I can easily see him beginning his career as soon as he steps onto the field in Lexington. Now that I think about it, and given the close games that UK will be involved in during his career, he should have been in the Top 5. The big question, "How soon does his career begin?"
12. Raymond Sanders-- Why? He is a difference maker, with great vision, and knows how to play. He should almost immediately step in as the punt returner and take some of the pressure off of Randall Cobb. The big question, "Can he take an SEC pounding week in and week out?"
13. Aaron Boyd-- Why? He was sick (mono) all of his freshman year and was redshirted last year. Some have speculated that he might play TE as opposed to WR due to speed. The really big question, "How serious is he taking his college football career?"
14. Donald Russell-- Why? Ultimately he is the backup to Derrick Locke, if Locke gets hurt, Donald might immediately become the starting RB. He had the longest run of the season in '09 , and with a year in the system might have the real upper hand as the #2 RB this year. Again, he probably should have been mentioned in the Top 10, but hey, he is definitely someone to watch this year. The big question, "How many touches does he get this year?"
15. Jerrell Priester-- Why? Joker has said that he will play in "The Wildcat" this year. Think about it Jerrell, Randall C, D Locke, C Matthews, and LaRod King all on the field together. The big question, "Where does he "fit in"? IE, WR, RB or other.
16. Chandler Burden-- Why? Chandler really needs to get his career on track at UK. He basically has been all over the board, and in reality it is not necessarily his fault. If he switches over to O-line, as has been suggested, he would obviously be a backup guard or some have said that he might redshirt. The big question, "Is he ready to step in as a reserve O-lineman?"
17. Trevino "Tiger" Woods-- Why? Because the CATS always need backup interior linemen. He has experience and size and looks to make a serious move up the depth chart. The big question, "How much has he improved this offseason?"
18. Sean Stackhouse--Why? Same as Trevino. You can never have too many experienced O-linemen especially in the SEC. The opportunity is there. The big question, again, "How much has he improved during the offseason?"
19. Teven Eatmon-- Why? Because you can not teach 6 ft 8 inches and 280 lbs coming out of High School. He will probably redshirt, but if he comes in ready to play, look out. The big question, "Will he really be chaged to an OLT, and if so, how soon can he go?"
20. Kevin "Batman" Mitchell-- Why? Again, he is 6 ft 7 in. and has redshirted. The consensus on him coming out of HS was that he needed 2 yrs. The big question, "Will he be ready this year?"
EDIT: Several offensive players tend to get 90% of the publicity on any team. This list was to name some of the players that might become more visible in the program, and to get a better handle on where they fit in at this point in their careers. More specifically, I tried to deal with those who are thought to be primary backups for the upcoming year (We all should know that R Cobb, D Locke, Brad Durham, Larry Warford, Stuart Hines, and the Quarterback competition is/are going to be the starters this year barring injury or academics.).
