ESPN jumps on the quarterback situation and names Hartline the early leader. Hopefully, the Cats are able to name a starter after spring practice and avoid any distractions going into the fall. Unless Hartline is injured again, I expect him to be the starter against Louisville. He knows the system, isn't as turnover prone and can manage the game. He doesn't have the upside, but the Cats can't afford to have any mistakes under center. Thursday, April 8, 2010

Sounds like not just ESPN but Phillips may be leading UK fans towards Hartline as well. Although the Highschool shot towards Newton by Phillips didn't sound very fair.
ReplyDeleteThe coaching staff, Kept Newton's Passing attack very grounded last year so he didn't get much experience throwing the ball. But I thought there was a great opportunity in the EKU game for Newton to gain valuable passing experience then with a slower defense and then he could took that and built upon it with Vandy, and moved forward again with each SEC team.
I also realize it wouldn't have been perfect but I think we didn't use him as wisely as we could have last year. Just think of the reps he would have gotten in the EKU game that Joker goes on about. Take that into the Vandy game, and move forward to the Miss ST game. see where I'm going now.
