Will uniforms change in 2010?

Could 2010 be the year UK changes up the uniforms again? Last year Nike showcased new uniforms with several programs, including Ohio State, Oregon and Florida. In 2010 Nike is rolling out new uniforms for Michigan State and more will likely follow. The Cats really need to get more involved with Nike for their football uniforms. Change creates excitement among players and recruits which is never a bad thing.

Whether the Cats and Nike work something out for a new design or not, could Joker opt to change things up? Last year rumors ran wild UK would wear black uniforms for Halloween, but it never happened. If Joker Phillips had been the head coach would it have happened? Some people want UK to go back to the white helmet and blue pants (see above) and ditch the blue helmets. Mixing up the uniforms is another way Joker Phillips can put his finger prints on this program.

What's your favorite uniform the football Cats have worn? Please leave feedback in the comments section.

  1. I used to like the white helmets, but i think Ilike the blue one even better.

As far as uniforms, the only look I am not carzy about is the blue jerseys with blue pants. I like the blue jerseys with white pants at home and the white jerseys with blue pants on the road. But, even all white on the road is OK. I just don't like the all blue at home.

  2. DO NOT get rid of the blue helmets! Go with the blue shirt/white pant combo at home, white/blue on the road. Pretty simple and you don't have to pay me a couple hundred thousand to come up with this. Please stop being whored out and get rid of the swoop!

Want to change something? Change the logo at mid-field to the old school widcat logo!

  3. White helmet with the blue K on one side (or both), blue shirts/white pants for home and white/blue on the road, or even white/white. Joker seems bent on a return to traditionals, and I agree with that. To this day, my favorite uniform has always been the simplicity of the Alabama unis. A little retro old school never hurts.

  4. I like anonymous' choice above. I don't mind the blue helmets, I just hate the all-blue smurf look. And I generally dislike having pants/shirt of the same color.

It's true new uniforms can create excitement,
but old ones occasionally help cement an image. You'll note that many of college football's top programs have not (and likely will not) significantly alter their uniforms: Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, Michigan, Ohio State, USC, Penn State, Oklahoma, Texas, Nebraska, Notre Dame... etc. That said, there are a few that are open to change (Oregon obviously bears the flag there).

  5. As presidential politics has shown us recently, not all change is good.

However, I'm not diggin' the blue helmet. I was never a Jerry Claiborne fan, but I favor the uniform that Joker wore during the 1980s. White helmet, blue stripe, and a big K on the sides. White jersey and blue pants with blue stripes down the side. And for God's sake, let's change the name of the field.

  6. Sorry. That would be blue pants with white stripes.

  7. Definitely keep the blue helmets, they are so much better than the white. And I like the all blue, it looks more like a warrior when you are all the same color. Nothing beats a team that wears black on black, but any colors of the same are good.

  8. Keep the blue helmet. There is no reason for Kentucky to go traditional in football. Traditionally, we have had a losing program. In football, we need to be the trendy new guy in town. Basketball, tradition works for us, yet we are still trendy. Football, we need to be Oregon East as far as flash and excitement. There's a reason Alabama doesn't change things. They don't want people to forget their past. They have done nothing but win in the past. Kentucky will be much better served being the cool choice than trying to be traditional.

  9. NO BLUE HELMETS! We look too much like Buffalo, Kansas, Memphis, ect..
I love the look of the white helmets, preferrably with the old wide "K" in blue. Uniforms play a huge role in recruiting and a completely new design could pay huge dividends in a player deciding to attend UK. I know that sounds stupid, but just think about the "buzz" the uniforms create at Oregon. I would like to have their recruiting classes from the last few years!

  10. Oregons unis are a joke. I cannot figure out why people like how they change week to week.

Would it help recruiting that much, I dont think so. i just dont see guys coming here for the uniforms, maybe it gives you that final edge..i dont know.

I like blue helmets, white pants at home..with all blue for "special games" and all white on road with blue pants for "special games"

  11. How about no change and put the money in recruiting efforts or barring that I'd go with a white Jersey and blue pants combo or vice versa
with a blue/blue for special occasions

  14. Dark Gray Helmet, Blue UK.
Dark Gray pants, Blue Jersey with dark gray numbers.

I made this at nike uniform creator and it looks sick!

  15. I like Sizemore's idea...leave em as they are (personally my favorite uniforms we've had) and let the money go to something that won't hurt our image to recruits. These uniforms are young and slick (the darker the better and the less clutter the better).
