QB Offers (known)

Braxton Miller, CJ Uzomah, Justin Worley, Shamir Jeffrey

QB Watch List

Braxton Smith, Christian Wallace, Kal Prince, Neal Pawsat, Conner Hempel, Jyhree Harris, Kevin Sousa, Marcus Graham, Mike Wegzyn, Senquay Eichelberger, Steven Rivers, Zack Mayes, Andrew Kummer

Already Committed

Patrick Coyne (Cincinnati), DaMarcus Smith (Louisville), Conner Cook (Michigan State)

Updates

Braxton Miller appears to be Ohio State’s to lose at this point. CJ Uzomah is likely staying in Georgia and Justin Worley appears to be leaning towards Rocky Top. Rumors have suggested Jeffrey could be close to committing to UK. Outside of Jeffrey, the Cats are still pursuing DaMarcus Smith who has committed to Louisville. Joker could flip Smith’s recruitment too. It wouldn’t surprise me to see in-state players Conner Hempel, Neal Pawsat or Kal Prince at UK either. All three have excellent grades and could possibly receive a preferred walk-on opportunity which could save the program a scholarship.

Most likely to be a Cat

Based on reports it sounds like Shamir Jeffrey could give his verbal commitment to the Cats. It is worth pointing out his brother, Alshon, committed to Southern Cal before choosing the Gamecocks on signing day. This is football recruiting and things change quickly. Many have felt Jeffrey was the Gamecocks to lose.

  1. Sousa has an offer.

  2. My understanding is that Smith will count towards the 2010 class if he greyshirts.

Also, I have spoken to Sousa several times and unless an offer came in the mail in the last 48 hours, he doesn't have one.

  3. Pretty sure I've read somewhere that he did have an offer and Scout shows him with an offer. Sometimes you just never know for sure. Seems like there are a few kids each year that fall into that category, especially early in the process.

  4. Sousa has the athletic tools to become an excellent SEC QB. UK's staff has followed Sousa closely and is very interested in him. They may have discussed the terms of an offer in one form or another. But in this case, a firm UK scholarship offer probably won't come unless Sousa agrees to visit Lexington.

You can take Aaron's word for things like this. It is good to keep in mind that Aaron gets his information straight from the horse's mouth, not from an internet-based recruiting service. Believe it or not, the internet-based recruiting services are often wrong about something like this since a large part of their "information" comes from third party heresay or outright speculation. That's why Aaron's website is the best information out there for UK football fans.

  5. Why would Kal Prince want to walk on at UK.

He is just as good as some they already have.

He will go to some other school if he has to walk on.

  6. My understanding is Kal has excellent grades and sometimes you don't have to sign a football scholarship to play football at a high level. If any player can get academic scholarships instead of using a football scholarship, it actually gives them an edge. Football is a numbers game. No different than John Conner (walk-on) who is now in the NFL. How about Cameron Mills? He walked on and played a huge role in helping the Cats win a National Title.

Kal is good, UK is limited in the number of scholly's they will have for 2011. I believe if the staff offers him, he will end up at UK. If not, he may very well choose to go elsewhere. It's also possible he comes as a preferred walk on. Kal is a big kid and could also possibly transition to TE too at the next level.
