Clint Tucker verbals as a UK Wildcat

Clint Tucker, a DT from E. St. Louis HS (IL) has verballed to the University of Kentucky Wildcats. The 6 ft 2 in, 285 lb D-lineman becomes the 9th verbal of the 2011 class. He joins fellow HS teammate Glen Faulkner (DB) who committed to the Wildcats back in March of 2010. Tucker is ranked the #39 DT by one recruiting service and fills one of the DT needs in what many consider to be the top need in the recruiting class (I could actually see Kentucky signing as many as 3 DTs and at least 2 for the 2011 class). Tucker already has the frame to contribute to the team and should have a great Senior HS season. At this point, the recruiting of Tucker and Faulkner open up another pipeline to one of the great HS powers in Illinois. The two teammates look to be the bedrock of the Kentucky defense for the next few seasons, and both players should provide impact at their positions given their skill set for the football field.

It was thought by some (including me) that he would verbal to a Big 12 School (possibly Kansas).

  1. Does this make you feel more comfortable with Faulkner's verbal or should we be equally nervous about jholding on to both of these kids?

  2. This should solidify 2 positions for us--G Faulkner (safety) and C Tucker (DT).

I would expect the possibility of 2-3 more commits coming after this weekend's camp.

Aaron and I have spoken at length about this and agree, we also agree that our next commit could come soon--very soon. There are 3-4 potential candidates with one from TN being the most likely, then 2-3 from Georgia.

  3. Sounds like the Coleman kid from Milan, TN could be very close from what I've read. Would be a nice DE addition.

    I have my reasons.

  5. Great news. One poster on CP that follows recruiting pretty closely said he is on Rivals "watch list" as a possible 5*. It is nice (and a change) to be even talking to so many elite recruits.

  6. He's on the Rivals 250 watch-list which doesn't necessarily mean that he will receive either a 4* or 5* rating. My guess is that he starts out as a 5.7 and moves up as the offers come in.

With that said, I think the ratings are a joke and the services are biased based on the subscriptions that can sell in certain areas.
