Someone sent this to me today on Jewell Ratliff:

"Was a two-time All-District and All-State Class 4A selection... Finished senior year with 87 tackles, 14 tackles-for-loss, 10 sacks, four forced fumbles and five interceptions while recording 70 tackles, 10 tackles-for-loss, six sacks, five forced fumbles and three picks as a junior... Played in the Pontchartrain All-Star Classic... Was a prep teammate of Cajuns defensive lineman Derreck Dean... Lettered in both football and basketball"

  1. WOW!!! This kid done played and all these type of games and RIVALS only gave him a 2 star something wrong with that picture paper don't lie because if it did he would not been a all star a all district and all state player UK all got something and him 6'1 236 LB and run a 4'6 and the 40

  2. From looking at Rivals, it appears that he wasn't evaluated. He has offers from Arkansas, UK, OK st, and Texas Tech. If his reported 40 time from some people is truly in the 4.6 range, at his size, he certainly sounds like a legit SEC linebacker.

Aaron or bill, do you you all have any insights as to your perception of his abilities?

    thanks

  3. my 64 dollar question is why doesn't he show up on any of the official lists? Is he definitely a commit?

  4. As I post this immediately to my right is a list of UK commits, is that Aaron's list? I can understand Tucker not being on it yet, but Ratliff was supposed to have committed weeks ago. Tucker is already listed as a recruit on Rivals, but Ratliff is still not on their list either, sounds weird to me if he did commit. Is there an explanation available? Is he a "silent" verbal that someone blew the silence on?

  5. OK, I found the answer---maybe. He is listed on Rivals as a 2010 commit, (can that be correct, thought he had to be enrolled) along with Smith, are they both grayshirts? Anyway good for us if we don't have to count them against our 2011 openings, and we have two more prospects to work with, which is a plus any way you look at it.

So which list is correct about Smith, he is listed as 2011 to the right.

How about the 85 limit, is that a problem?

  6. I hope someone find out the problem because no one understand it so Aaron could you this out big guy

  8. Ratliff isn't on the right hand side of the page becuase he is a 2010 commit. He signed in March. 2011 commits can't sign until December if they are enrolling early or February like everyone else.

Ratliff will either show up this summer for camp or greyshirt. I'm still trying to get confirmation. I listed Max Smith as part of the 2011 class, but I don't see how he counts towards that class either. He would either be a 2010 grayshirt (but he hasn't singed) or a 2011 early signee.

  9. Well I know he will show up for camp but you think with his ability to play this game like some people say he can do Aaron you think he will be a true freshman are he'll just get some playing time
