ONE MINUTE OF GLORY

What is your favorite play from an unknown UK player who had a game changing play to impact a game?

  1. Well, an "unknown player" seems to be somewhat of an oxymoron. But, I'll take a stab at this just to get things rolling.

The first one that comes to mind was the tackle at the one-yard line on the last play of the game by the walk on DB -- Robbie _____ ? -- to save the MTSU game a couple of years ago.

  2. Robbie McAtee! That's a good one, I still remember the picture of him hanging onto that guy's leg for dear life. Not just a game saving play, but a season saving one.

My first thought went to Shane McCord and his interception against Georgia last year. Had never really heard the big guy's name called before that and then the next thing you know he is rumbling towards the end zone to set up Cobb's game winning TD run.

  3. Taylor Wyndham taking out Tebow. Didnt change the game, but sure changed his life.

  4. A1, here. Help me out again. Freshman WR -- Michael _________ ? -- left school half way through his freshman year. But, he made a BIG catch to help us beat Ole Miss in the SEC opener at Commonwealth 5 or 6 years ago.

  6. Yes, Rock_Cat. That's the guy.

And, this may not be exactly what is being asked, but, AT THE TIME, Trevard Lindley was a little noticed freshman DB when he made the interception to bring down the goal posts against UGA, and Derrick Locke was a 3rd or 4th-string freshman RB when he ran the ball so well on the road in the 4th quarter to beat Arkansas on the road. Both went on to have GREAT careers at UK, but at the time, no one knew much about either of them.

  8. A1, again. Yes, Demoreo Ford's catch. That certainly fits the bill. And, that was certainly a career highlight for Demoreo.

You know, even Stevie Johnson was not exactly a household name when he caught the winning TD vs UofL, but, of course, Stevie would go on to make many more big catches in his career. But, due to a series of injuries, that was about it for Ford.

  9. UK-Alabama 1997...the guy who blocked Alabama's field goal late in the game and was scooped up for a Wildcat Touchdown. (I think I remember this correctly).

  10. ^ IIRC David Ginn blocked the FG and Anwar Stewart scooped it up for the TD. Hard to believe that's been 13 years ago now.

  11. Rock Cat, I was just about to say Anwar Stewart as the first guy I thought of.
