2010 QB & RB Targets for Kentucky

I have studied UK's football recruiting hard since 2002 and found some really good info. First, let me say this coaching staff has done an awesome job of finding players that slipped through the cracks. Second, the staff has been able to leave the state of Kentucky to recruit which the numbers clearly show. With that said, I wanted to take a look at some key UK Targets for 2010. Let's start with the QB's and RB's and then we will take a look at the rest later this week.

QB Position- Currently UK has offers out to Blake Bortles (who has committed to UCF) and Billy Cosh (Gambrills, MD). With the success of last years QB class one has to wonder how that will impact our recruiting over the next couple of seasons.

Billy Cosh*** has said recently that he was going to announce his decision, which has come down to Kansas State, Kentucky and East Carolina. Cosh has said that he likes the prestige of the SEC, but it sounds like Kansas State (his dad is a coach on the staff) and East Carolina (playing time) may have the upper hand.

Prediciton- I feel that Cosh will pick either Kansas State or East Carolina. I believe that Cosh has concerns about playing time due Newton & Mossakowski and Kansas State has been a second home.

RB Position- Currently Kentucky has received a verbal commitment from Raymond Sanders for 2010. The Cats have extended offers to Storm Johnson (Loganville, GA), Rajaan Bennett (Powder Springs, GA), Rajion Neal (Tyrone, GA), Trevaughn Brooks (Crystal River, FL) and Miles Simpson (Independence, KY).

Storm Johnson**** has 17 offers and being recruited by the best of the best. He has offers from LSU, FSU, Florida, Tennessee and Kentucky among others. Johnson has great stats, but appears to run more like a fullback than a tailback. With these offers, he is clearly a great football player. Johnson is expected to enroll early to the school of his choice.

Rajaan Bennett**** has several offers, but mainly has four schools recruiting him hard at this time. Bennett lists Louisville, Kentucky, East Carolina and Vanderbilt as his leaders. According to reports, Vandy is recruiting the RB hard.

Rajion Neal*** has several offers ,but like Bennett has three main schools recruiting him at this time as well. Neal lists Louisville, Mississippi State and Kentucky as his leaders. While he has taken visits to Louisville and Mississippi State he says that Kentucky is not out of the picture. He likes Joker Phillips and stated he will decide soon.

Trevaughn Brooks*** has three main schools recruiting him at this point. He lists Kentucky, Arkansas and UCF has his leaders. Kentucky was the first school to offer Brooks and he is planning on taking a visit to Lexington for one of the first UK home games this year.

Miles Simpson*** has several offers and is from the state of Kentucky. Simpson lists Western Kentucky, Michigan, Cincinnati, Indiania, Purdue, Louisville along with Kentucky as his schools of choice. Simpson is a favorite for Kentucky Mr. Football. It appears that Simpson really likes the Western Kentucky coaches, but with offers like these who knows what will happen. It will be hard for him to leave the state.

Prediciton- Kentucky lands two of the five players mentioned above. It sounds like Trevaughn Brooks and Miles Simpson are the sure bet. Brooks has stated how much it means that UK was his first offer and really likes Chuck Smith. If Kentucky wants Simpson, I think they can roll out the red carpet and keep him home.

Of course this is college football recruiting and things can change at anytime. These are simply my views and of course ask you to leave your comments.

We will take a look at the rest of the recruiting later this week.

GO CATS!
