I have studied UK's football recruiting hard since 2002 and found some really good info. First, let me say this coaching staff has done an awesome job of finding players that slipped through the cracks. Second, the staff has been able to leave the state of Kentucky to recruit which the numbers clearly show. With that said, I wanted to take a look at some key UK Targets for 2010. We have already reviewed the QB's, RB's, and WR's so now its time to take a look at the Tight Ends and Offensive Line targets.
Tight Ends- UK has extended offers to Teven Eatmon (Bucyrus, OH) and Tyler Robinson (Alcoa, TN) for 2010.
Teven Eatmon*** has offers from Syracuse, Maryland and Kentucky. Eatmon recently visited Syracuse with his high school teammate Tyler Brause who holds offers from both Syracuse and Maryland as well. Eatmon and Brause could decide to play together which it appears UK is not involved with Brause. Eatmon stated how impressed he was with Syracuse and is planning a visit to Maryland, but no visit to UK is confirmed at this time.
Tyler Robinson** has offers from Virginia Tech and Kentucky while schools like North Carolina and Tennessee are getting involved. Tyler has visited Virginia Tech and really likes the coaching staff in Blacksburg. Robinson is a big kid and Virginia Tech is considering a move to Center. He is hearing similar feedback from other schools as well. It's very possible Tyler doesn't play Tight End in college. There have been some rumors that Virginia Tech pulled their offer, but I haven't been able to confirm. If that is the case, then UK is the only offer Tyler currently holds.
Prediction- UK has a good shot at Robinson if they can get him on campus for a visit and make him feel comfortable. You have to hope the Alcoa relationship can help them. Based on the reports it sounds like Eatmon may be a package deal with his teammate so unless UK goes after both they will have to make a hard sell to Eatmon. Remember Terrell Mitchell is headed to prep school and could possibly enroll in January as a grey shirt or next year as a freshman again.
Offensive Line-UK has extended offers to Matt James (Cincinnati, OH), Skyler Schofner ( ), Dylan Bostic (Neptune Beach, FL) and O.C. Brown (Memphis, TN)
Matt James**** has offers from Cincinnati, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Florida, UK and about 12 other schools. Matt is a beast, but he currently lists Cincinnati, Notre Dame and Ohio State as his top choices.
Skyler Schofner *** picture above has offers from Wisconsin, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue and many others. Based on reports it appears that Wisconsin has the edge right now due to Skyler's relationship with the coaching staff. Some recruting websites feel that Skyler could easily project as a four star recruit. He is very lean and has the height to be a great offensive tackle.
Dylan Bostic (NR) has offers from Illinois, Kentucky, Iowa, Iowa State, Indiana, Duke, Florida Atlantic, FIU and several others. Bostic is still very open in his recruitment and won't make any decisions for a couple of months. Bostic projects as an offensive tackle in college.
O.C. Brown **** has offers from Kentucky, Southern Miss, Colorado, Middle Tennessee State University. Brown attended summer camp at Arkansas and says if Arkansas offers they would be high on his list. Brown wants to see how many more offers come his way during his senior season before making a decision. Brown will likely play guard in college as his height may keep him from playing tackle.
Prediction- UK has a good chance of signing two of the four listed. We have virtually no shot at James at this point as the other schools seem to have the upper hand. Schofner in my opinion projects to be the best player based on reports, but UK will have plenty of competition to land him. Based on reports both Bostic and Brown are candidates at this point, but neither are close to making any decisions. It appears both Bostic and Brown want to see what other offers come their way before setting up visits.
