2010 Wide Receiver Targets for UK

I have studied UK's football recruiting hard since 2002 and found some really good info. First, let me say this coaching staff has done an awesome job of finding players that slipped through the cracks. Second, the staff has been able to leave the state of Kentucky to recruit which the numbers clearly show. With that said, I wanted to take a look at some key UK Targets for 2010. We have already reviewed the QB's and RB's and now its time to take a look at the WR's.

WR Position- Currently UK has extended offers to DyJuan Lewis (Indianapolis, Indiana), Kenny Shaw (Orlando, FL), Robert Johnson (Hattiesburg, MS), Chris Hawkins (Channelview, TX), Maudrecus Humphrey (Hoover, AL) and most recently reported Lamar Ivey (Mebane, NC). Of course, there are the unknowns that are on the radar that we don't know about. This staff likes to find players and keep it quiet so the rest of the world doesn't find them.

DyJuan Lewis**** has offers from Cincinnati, Indiania, Kentucky, South Carolina, Oregon and Michigan State. Lewis received his first offer from Cincinnati as a Sophomore and the Bearcats signed one of Lewis' teammates in their 2009 class.

Kenny Shaw****has offers from Florida State, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida and Kentucky. Reports say that UK is not heavily involved compared to others schools. Shaw size is a little concern for durability and most project him to play the slot position.

Robert Johnson**** has offers from Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Louisville, Southern Miss and West Virginia. Johnson has stated that Mississipp State leads for his services. Johnson has always like Florida State as a fan so it will be intersting to see if the Seminoles get involved in a big way.

Chris Hawkins*** has offers from Utah, Minnesota, Houston, Cal and Kentucky. Hawkins has stated that he likes the prestige of the SEC. His stats as a Junior were really interesting. Chris made huge plays. (not a ton of receptions, but huge yards)

Maudrecus Humphrey*** has offers from Kentucky, UAB, Arkansas, Louisville, Ole Miss and Mississippi State. Humphrey's dad played football at Alabama so if the Tide get involved it will be interested. Also, his mom ran track at UAB. Humphrey is also a track star and wants to run track and play football in college.

Lamar Ivey*** has offers from East Carolina, West Virginia, VMI and Kentucky. He also being recruited by Georiga Tech, but no reports of offers yet. Some schools are recruiting Ivey as a WR and others for QB or DB.

Prediction- Kentucky signs two of the six mentioned above and could easily not sign any of them. Based on reports UK really wants Lewis and hopefully the Newton connection helps them land the 4-star stud. Let's hope Joker rolls out the red carpet. I think you can count out UK on Shaw, Johnson and Humphrey. I think Ivey and Hawkins are wild cards at this point. It's a good thing our receivers are young and we have depth on our current roster.
