It's no secret that Mike Hartline hasn't played well during the last two games. However, don't blame Rich Brooks, Joker Phillips or Randy Sanders. After all, Brooks, Phillips and Sanders probably never envisioned Mike Hartline as the No 1 QB. If everything goes as planned, Mike Hartline would likely be backing up Curtis Pulley this season instead of trying to lead the Cats to their fourth consecutive bowl appearance. No one is pleased with Hartline's performance thus far, not the fans or coaches. Rich Brooks is not pleased with Hartline's play and the fans are ready for a change. The fans need to remember that neither Morgan Newton or Ryan Mossakowski enrolled early at UK, which makes it nearly impossible for a true freshman to earn the starting job coming out of camp.
We know what we have in MH. He is who he is, there is no changing that. We need to get someone/anyone snaps this season!
ReplyDeleteHe is who everyone said he was before this season began, there is no hook to be let off of!!
M Newton was a Running QB in HS, how is he NOT getting playing Time?? He can make plays 2 ways and passively commands the respect of his teammates. MH could stand there and actively demand the respect of his teammates and they would laugh at him.

The coaches are working with the hand they were dealt. Newton will be great, but right now he doesn't know the offense. Newton himslef has admitted that learning the offense has been a challenge. Hartline knows the offense, but seems to lack confidence in his ability. The coaches would rather take their lickings with Hartline than Newton so they don't waste a year of eligiblity. In my opinion, Hartline will have to play worse or get injured for the Cats to burn a redshit. I thought they should have used Newton is a spot role, mix him in from time to time, but still give Hartline the keys.
