Sunday evening UK Football links

Mike Hartline's injury changes the plans for Morgan Newton. Newton has been splitting snaps with Will Fidler as the backup quarterback in practice. The coaching staff will evaluate Newton this week to see his progress. The biggest concern is Newton's decision making ability. The coaching staff could wait until game time to announce the next starter. It seems certain that the Big Blue Nation will finally get to see Morgan Newton.

Randall Cobb is a better receiver than quarterback, however the coaching staff will put in more plays for Cobb in the "Wildcat" package. Putting Cobb in full-time at quarterback will take away one of UK's biggest receiving threats. Also, Will Fidler has more practice snaps in the UK offense than another back-up.

Larry Vaught has an article about Mike Hartline with some quotes from Rich Brooks. Hartline is likely out for two to four weeks with his injury. UK has three options at quarterback; Randall Cobb, Will Fidler or Morgan Newton.

Rick Bozich writes that Spurrier will never lose to Cats. Yes, Spurrier has had the Cats number for 17 games now, but that will change. UK's best football years are ahead of them.

The secondary is UK's primary problem right now considering Trevard Lindley is listed as doubtful for the Auburn game. Both Neloms and Burden were picked on by Steven Garcia and the Gamecocks threw for three touchdowns.
