Sunday UK Football Notes & Links

Larry Vaught writes that UK's football season looks a lot better now. In my opinion, the win against Auburn was a must and now the Cats need to finish strong. Before the season, I predicted the Cats to win eight games and after Hartline was injured I still felt the Cats would finish with seven wins. If the Cats can continue to play mistake free football, they can win eight games.

Brett Dawson writes that Cats get a QB sweep against Auburn. Morgan Newton started the game and scored his first career touchdown. However, Newton didn't appear to have the grasp on the UK offense as much as Will Fidler. Filder made a great throw on fourth down to keep the Cats driving in the fourth quarter and then ran for a touchdown to tie the game. The Cats mixed in Randall Cobb in the "wildcat" which proved to be the difference. All three players contributed and managed the game well.

The Hampton Roads Daily talks about Randall Cobb leading the Cats to a come from behind victory. Clearly Cobb was a difference maker and needs touches to keep the offense going.

Finally, Brooks spread praise, but he gets some too. Brooks called this win at Auburn "the ultimate team win". I agree, from the players to the coaches everyone executed the game plan. Micah Johnson called the win "one of his top three" in his career at UK. If UK can continue to play mistake free football, they can finish very strong this year.

Chip Cosby writes that UK scores two late TD's to shock Auburn. The Cats last defeated Auburn in 1966. Finally, Derrick Locke rushes for over 100 yards in a single game. Watching the game, I felt Locke could hit a big run at any given moment.
