Auburn running back, Ben Tate, is leading the SEC in rushing yards heading into the game against UK. That's not good news for a UK defense who ranks last in the league. UK's linebackers will be key in stopping the Auburn rushing attack.
Two freshman have made impacts for Auburn this year. Darren Bates has made a big impact in the Tiger's secondary this season and Onterio McCalebb is averaging 128 all-purpose yards per game.
As reported earlier, UK offensive lineman, Jake Lanefski will miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury. Lanefski was the back up guard and center so his injury is significant.
Cornerback Paul Warford practiced today and may play Saturday against Auburn. The team will continue to evaluate Warford's status until game time.
Reports and rumors are swirling that Morgan Newton will start at quarterback Saturday against Auburn. Several writers and internet sites are all reporting the same thing. It still doesn't seem like Rich Brooks' style to start a freshman on the road in the SEC, but ultimately it's the right thing for the program.
In case you missed it, UK received a commitment from CB Eric Simmons (Atlanta, Ga). Simmons is a speedster and attended UK's camp this summer. Regardless of the star ranking, the coaches had this kid on campus and offered him a scholarship based on his ability.
