4-Star TE Alex Smith to announce today

Four Star tight end, Alex Smith (Cincinnati, OH) is set to announce his college decision today. Smith is expected to choose between UK, Wisconsin, Michigan and North Carolina. Hopefully the Georgia win comes into play for his quick decision.

**Update** Alex Smith has committed to North Carolina based on reports.

  1. An unfortunate loss for the cats. Aaron what do you think it will take for the cats to land some of the four star talent that they seem to be so close on? Thanks for all that you do with the blog.

  2. 1- UK needs to keep winning and making bowl appearances. Moving up the SEC ladder will help.
2- UK needs to upgrade the facilities at Commonwealth (add a recruiting room). Nutter is nice, but they need something at the stadium.
3- When Joker becomes the head coach it will help. I love Brooks, but kids will identify more with Phillips in my opinion.

The 2010 class is shaping up nicely and UK is in the mix with about 12 solid recruits. If you follow Rivals, Scout and ESPN it would appear that UK is involved with 30-40 players, but that is not reality. It's tough becuase Kentucky doesn't produce a ton of SEC caliber players. UK could benefit from coaching changes this off season too.
