Happy Thanksgiving! UK Football Links and Notes

It's time for Cats-Vols to become a rivalry again. Clearly, neither program is the same old program. Hopefully, Randall Cobb will ignite the rivalry come Saturday. Click on the link to John Clay's article.

In case you missed it yesterday, Will Fidler will forgo his senior season at UK. With Hartline, Newton and Mossakowski competing for playing time next season, Fidler saw the writing on the wall. Fidler's father admits the junior could return next season, but in case he doesn't, he doesn't want to miss Senior Day.

Eric Crawford of the Courier-Journal writes; Give thanks for Brooks talking sense. On this Thanksgiving, I'm thankful for Rich Brooks as he has resurrected an all-but-dead football program at Kentucky. I'm also thankful for Mitch Barnhardt, Joker Phillips and the rest of the UK coaching staff. Oh yeah, I'm also thankful for Tennessee not recruiting Randall Cobb.

Lane Kiffin wasn't around when Randall Cobb was being recruited. Kiffin wishes the previous staff had recruited him a little harder. It really hurts when home grown talent leaves the state, especially when the player could be the conference player of the year. The Tennessean has a nice article on the "one that got away".

Cats look to end streak and pack for January Bowl game. UK hasn't defeated Tennessee in 24 years and Commonwealth Stadium is all but ready to blow come Saturday. I expect Lexington to be crazy, especially since the game will be played at 7pm. If UK wins, expect 70,000 to celebrate at the 50-yard line.

ESPN's Chris Low talks about the SEC's Super Seniors. I have always felt that Low was fair, but in this article, it appears he shows his true colors. Low has covered Tennessee for years and not picking one UK senior is absurd. How can Low leave off Micah Johnson, Sam Maxwell, John Conner, Corey Peters, Jorge Gonzalez or Zipp Duncan? I'm not saying every player mentioned should be recognized, but I have to believe that at least ONE should have been mentioned.

UK appears to be a dead lock for the Outback Bowl with a victory over Tennessee, but could drop to the Music City Bowl with a loss. Apparently, the Chick-Fil-A Bowl representatives really like Auburn and they could end up in Atlanta if the Cats lose.

Tim McAdoo (3-Star DT) will be visiting UK for the game this weekend against Tennessee. McAdoo has been a "soft" verbal for UK. Some people feel that McAdoo wants to hear from the home state Vols and that is why he is a "soft" commit. Therefore, a win against UT could go a long way towards sealing his commitment.
