Monday UK Football Links and Notes

Just wanted to remind everyone that Speed Kills! I can't stop thinking about the win at Georgia this past weekend. With players like Randall Cobb and Derrick Locke, UK is never completely out of any game. UK has play-makers and when the Cats take care of the football, they can win any game.

John Clay writes, Brooks' Cats erase ghosts of seasons past. In years past, the blocked punt by Matt Roark ends up a first down instead of a re-play. Rich Brooks has changed the players attitude towards winning and changed the entire SEC's perception of UK football in the process.

Chip Cosby writes, UK showed its better half in upset. The game started well for the Cats as they took an early 6-0 lead against Georgia. UK seemed to go through the motions after the early score and Georgia started to put on a show. However, Georgia allowed the Cats to hang around. In the second half, UK forced a turnover on the opening kick off, which shifted the games momentum. Once Randall Cobb scored the first touchdown of the second half, everyone knew the Cats had a chance to comeback.

Out of hand: Turnovers doom Bulldogs in 34-27 loss to Wildcats writes RedandBlack.com. Georgia turned the ball over to the Cats three times in the second half, including a late fumble at the goal line. Sam Maxwell sealed the game for UK when made his team leading fifth interception with less than 2 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

Brett Dawson writes the Cats finally conquer Athens. UK hadn't won in Athens since 1977. Rich Brooks told his team that he had been waiting a long time for this win. Brooks lost to Georgia 32 years ago when he was the head coach of Oregon.

Physical Vols worry Brooks writes Larry Vaught. Tennessee struggled early with a new coaching staff and tough schedule, but the Vols are playing good now. UK will have their hands full Saturday against Tennessee and Eric Berry.

Saturday's game is huge for Kentucky. It's huge for the players, it's huge for the coaches, it's huge for the school and it's huge for the fans. To some fans, the game Saturday is their bowl game. UK will be trying to end the nations longest losing streak to one team when the Cats face the Vols Saturday. UK has a great opportunity to end the streak and make history again. The Cats simply need to take care of the football like they did in Athens. If the Cats can avoid turnovers, 70,000 fans will be celebrating on the field afterwards. I'm looking forward to it.
