Monday UK Football Links and Notes

The Tennessean says UK experienced Deja Vol again. The loss to Tennessee hurt for the players, coaches and fans. However, UK shouldn't have won the game based on their performance in the second half. In the end, the Cats had their shot and unfortunately missed out again.

Go Vols Extra says the Wildcat needed a bigger dose of Cobb. Many UK fans won't argue either. UK didn't play with the same intensity in the second half as they did the first. Just like fans saw at Georgia, it's not how you start, but how you finish in football.

Morgan Newton was really hard on himself after the UT loss. Larry Vaught has a nice article which shows Newton's character. The UT loss should serve as a wake up call for Newton and help with preparation for the Cats bowl game. This off season will be interesting for the quarterbacks. I think UK is in a great position with Newton, Hartline and Mossakowski pushing each other heading into spring practice.

Larry Vaught reported his best bowl source feels Music City Bowl representatives would jump at the chance to have Kentucky again. If UK end up in Nashville again, they would likely face Florida State or North Carolina.

Is Derrick Locke considering an early departure and skipping his senior season? Apparently, Locke made a comment on his Facebook page which has many people curious. Personally, I think Locke needs to return for his senior season. However, Locke will not have John Conner blocking for him next season which could have an impact on his production. Can Derrick Locke's value become any higher?

This coming weekend is a big weekend for the football program as they are hosting 12 key recruits. Three of the recruits have already given UK their verbal, but its always good to get them back on campus to secure their commitment.
