Tuesday UK Football Links and Notes

Rich Brooks dismisses questions about his future as UK's head coach. Rich Brooks doesn't want any distractions before the Tennessee game. Brooks reminded reporters that he has three years left on his contract. Personally, I think there's a 50/50 chance that Brooks stays another year.

Go Vols Extra feels that Tennessee and Kentucky are on similar paths. The article points out that Tennessee's seniors have 30 career wins and two bowl games under their belt, while UK's seniors have 30 career wins and four games under their belt. Stop and think about that for a minute. UK is not the same old Kentucky from the past and neither is Tennessee.

Losing streak to Vols almost a second thought. UK has already ended two losing streaks this season with wins at Auburn and Georgia, it's not enough. UK needs to win against Tennessee. Based on comments and fans that I have talked to, the Tennessee game is UK's bowl game. Many fans would have traded a Tennessee victory over a bowl game. While we all realize that's crazy, it shows how much meaning Saturday's game has on the Big Blue Nation.

Quarterback Hutson Mason (2010 Class) is receiving interest from UK and other BCS schools. Joker Phillips recently visited one of Mason's games which shows UK's interest in the recruit. Mason recently threw for 580 yards and 8 touchdowns in a playoff game. Mr. SEC has the article.

The Kentucky Kernel has a nice article on Rich Brooks' future and what a win against Tennessee means. As Corey Peters says, “Beating Tennessee would be much, much, much better than beating Georgia. Not only for bowl implications, but because of the streak and senior night and all the different factors going into it".
