UK Football Pre-game Links and Notes

Chip Cosby writes about the UK-Vandy match up. Cosby gives UK advantages at QB, RB, WR, OL and DB's while giving Vandy the advantage on special teams. Cosby feels the Cats-Commodores are pretty even at the defensive line and linebacker positions.

Here is a nice Q&A with UK's Derrick Locke. Sitting out the Eastern Kentucky game was the best medicine Locke could have taken for his knee injury. UK needs Locke healthy for the remaining three games for the Cats to become bowl eligible.

All that stands between Kentucky and their fourth consecutive bowl game is Vanderbilt. UK needs to take care of business in Nashville before they start thinking about improving their bowl status. Vanderbilt's season has been difficult and they would love to beat the Cats on Senior Day. UK will have all of their key players back and some should have fresh legs after sitting out last weekends game.

This game could have an effect on 2010 recruiting as well. UK is still pursuing a couple of Vanderbilt commitments for 2010 including Jared Morse (DT, Oxford, AL) and Jerrell Priester (Athlete, Allendale, SC). UK is also fighting it out with Vanderbilt for Rajaan Bennett (RB, Powder Springs, GA) and Austin Collinsworth (Athlete, Fort Thomas, KY).
