UK-Tennessee Game Day Links and Notes

UK's top football class is saying goodbye as 27 seniors will play their final home game. As Corey Peters says, " I think we've had great success. We just have to try to continue to build on that this year. It's not too late to do that. We can leave the program better off than when we got here".

Will the streak finally end? Brooks sure hopes so writes Larry Vaught. I agree with Rich Brooks, not only would a win end the streak, but it would make a historic statement. Outside of the streak, the Cats could potentially finish second in the SEC East and play in a January Bowl game. There is a lot more riding on this game than the streak.

Alcoa is split between Vols and Cobb writes Mark Story. It's the home school versus the home town hero. Hopefully, Randall Cobb will help UK end the streak and more Alcoa players will come to Kentucky. UK currently has two players from Alcoa and another joining the team for 2010.

UK must not get caught up in the emotions of Senior Day. UK has recently ruined two Senior Day's, one at Vanderbilt and one at Georgia. The players must stay focused and play within themselves. If they do so, Lexington will erupt Saturday night.

Chip Cosby provides his UK-UT matchup by position and gives UK very little advantage. I think both teams match up well on paper, but I like UK's skill players better and senior leadership. Look for Joker and Randy Sanders to manage the game and not ask too much from Morgan Newton. UK needs to take care of the ball and win the turnover battle. If so, UK wins. If not, the streak continues.

The Outback or Cotton Bowl are possible bowl destinations if UK wins against Tennessee. Most likely UK would end up at the Outback Bowl, but don't rule out the Cotton Bowl. If UK loses, they are likely headed to either the Chick-Fil-A Bowl or Music City Bowl.

Could this be Rich Brooks final game at Commonwealth Stadium? There has been speculation that Brooks may retire at the end of the season. I'm not sure anyone knows at this point, including Rich Brooks. However, a win against Tennessee and a January Bowl game might be the icing on the cake for Paw-Paw.

There will be several recruits visiting during this weekend's game including Tim McAdoo and Avery Williamson. Both recruits have given UK their verbal, but McAdoo appears to be a "soft" commit. Both players are from Tennessee, so a win could help confirm the commitment.

The Cat Walk will be at 4:45pm outside Gate 1 next to Nutter Field House. Come early and expect a big crowd.

Senior Day player introductions and activities will start at 6:30pm.
