Friday UK Football Notes

Things are pretty quite on the football front right now for UK. However, there is a lot going on outside the UK circle. Former Cincinnati Coach, Brian Kelly, has taken the job at Notre Dame. The change could help UK with recruiting the Cincinnati area. Also, it's unclear if Dyjuan Lewis (4-Star WR) will stay committed to UC. Remember Lewis was down to UK, Cincinnati and Michigan State.

Also, 2011 QB DaMarcus Smith has committed to Louisville. New Louisville coach, Charlie Strong, is going to make a big push to land Austin Collinsworth, Miles Simpson and Tim Patterson. Strong understands he must win the in-state recruiting battles to build his program.

We found out this week that Tennessee is under investigation. Lane Kiffin and company continue to bend the rules as much as possible. Some UK fans have stated the Cats should offer Ed Orgeron a job if UT cuts ties with him. I'll admit Orgeron is a heck of a recruiter, but I'm unsure if UK wants a black cloud hanging over them.

Both Morgan Newton and Larry Warford made the SEC All-Freshman team. Many expected Newton make the team based on his performance, but Warford has been a huge surprise all year. Larry Warford will be a huge part of UK's offensive line over the next couple of years.

Also, many are wondering about the future of Rich Brooks at Kentucky. Brooks isn't giving any indications that he is going to retire. Also, if Brooks is telling recruits he plans on being around for another year or two, you have believe him. Brooks wants to take the Cats to the next level and move up the SEC ladder. Next year is his year to do just that.

UK is in the mix with three players at Harbor Community College which is the same schools that Chris Matthews and DeQuinn Evans attended. The three players to keep an eye on are Dominique Blackman (QB), Dwayne Frampton (WR) and Kyle Sharmon (DE). It would not surprise me to see all three playing at UK.
