1st Big Decision?

Rumors abound that 2 UK football Coaches, Rick Petri and Jimmy Heggins have been released by the school.

Reportedly, Coaches Rick Petri (Defensive Line Coach), and Jimmy Heggins (Offensive Line Coach) have been terminated by new Head Coach Joker Phillips.

Petri, who had been with the CATS since 2005 came from Ole Miss where he served in a similiar capacity. Rick was a graduate of the University of Missouri at Rolla (an Engineering School) in 1977. He began his coaching career the same year at Pittsburg State. He coached several UK defensive linemen that made it to the NFL, these players include: Jeremy Jarmon (Redskins), and Myron Pryor (Patriots).

Heggins also began his career at UK in 2005 coming from Florida State. Jimmy graduated as a Seminole in 1978 and began his coaching career at South Miami HS. Among the UK players that he has put in the NFL are: Garry Williams (Panthers).

Both men proved to be able to "coach up" players in order to help them achieve their maximum potential. There had been the feeling amongst many that the undoing of both coaches was their limited success in recruiting players to the university.
