Wow, I'm too old for just three-First game I vividly remember-Pounding Tenn Tech in opener of '51 season 72-13 with Bear and the Babe(Parilli). The Collier regime of my high school years beating The Vols FIVE times! In 1964 our(almost) all Kentucky boy team(Norton-Louisville, Ball-Henderson, Kestner-Belfry, Bird-Corbin, McGraw-Ft. Thomas) knocking off #1 Ole Miss 27-21 in Jackson(I was there). The next year(Seiple's fake punt) they were 6-2 and headed for Cotton Bowl when Norton broke leg and wheels came off in Houston. The power teams of Curci in '76-'77 with Ramsey,Still,Blanton,Kovach,Siganos. The '97-'98 Mumme, Couch teams with the Bama OT tear down, massacre at Papa John Stadium opener 68-34 on rather warm day and wonderful trips to New Orleans and win over LSU in Baton Rouge, and Tampa for Outback Bowl with atmosphere and good friends. The Brooks years as he built program back up to the most solid ground I can remember since earliest days-Burton, Woodson, Woodyard, Tamme, McClinton, Lyons, Pryor, Little-too many to mention, along with this year's seniors. Thanks to them for the memories. Sorry post is so long but could have been MUCH worse. I predict that the Joker years will be good to us also. THIS IS SUPER SITE!!!
ReplyDeleteThe '77 Georgia and Tennessee games come to mind as well. We put a real beatdown on them that year.
ReplyDeleteP.S.--- That was Dicky Lyons,Jr. who hammered Steltz into next week and left him counting his teeth that were left!!
ReplyDelete1. Tim Couch committing!(Being from the mtns he is big deal, mtn legend from his 8th grade year on!)
ReplyDelete2. Jeff Snedegar being the most lethal former QB ever!
3. Ventrell mashing ECUs Pinckneys face in and making his earpad pop like a champaigne cork on new years.
4. Myron Pryor crushing the UGA receiver causing him to immediately get sent to the UK ER knocked OUT!!!
5. Wesley Woodyard!
