Joker Phillips has started putting his stamp on the UK football program by letting Rick Petri and Jimmy Heggins go as assistant coaches. There has been some speculation that Chris Rumph would be a likely candidate to be the UK defensive line coach. As most know, he is the Uncle of Donte Rumph who has committed to UK twice already. Chris Rumph has been an assistant coach at Clemson, Memphis and South Carolina State. He was also a high school coach at Calhoun County High School in South Carolina. Rumph is a great recruiter and Joker knows the key to taking the next step starts with recruiting. Here is a great link that gives a Bio on Chris Rumph.
There are also many people that feel Steve Brown could leave UK. Brown interviewed for the Mississippi State job last year and could be a candidate to interview for the USF job. Brown was very close to Rich Brooks and looked up to him. Don't be surprised if he is not in the UK coaching booth next season.
Remember, UK has four key recruits on campus this weekend with Dyjuan Lewis (WR), Maudrecus Humphrey (WR), Rajaan Bennett (RB) and Lamar Ivey (ATH). I fully expect the Cats to roll out the red carpet and land more verbals this weekend. With the coaching change, it gives the staff more time to evaluate their current commitments and make sure they are signing the best players possible.
