DeAnthony Arnett (2011-WR) Recruit Update

This afternoon (2/23/2010) I spoke with DeAnthony Arnett (Saginaw, MI) who is rated the No 8 Wide Receiver in the 2011 class by Scout. He told me currently have 14 offers from power house programs and Michigan State, Notre Dame and USC are recruiting him the hardest right now.

He visited Michigan State this past weekend for the Ohio State game and plans to take in UK's "Junior Day" on March 7th. DeAnthony told me Joker Phillips was handling his recruitment before he became the head coach and was still handling his recruitment. He plans on taking all of his visits before making a decision.

When asked about the factors in choosing a school he said, "I want to play for a coach who will push me and get me ready for the NFL. Academics are important in case I don't make it to the NFL then I have my degree to fall back on." He also said, "I want to compete for a National Title". DeAnthony is not close to choosing a school, but will decide when the time is right.

He is currently playing basketball and at one point during his prep career rated very high as a basketball prospect. However, he decided to focus more on football than basketball. I asked him if playing both sports in college was possible and he said, "Yes".

When asked if he would attend any camps this spring or summer he replied, "I might attend the Michigan Showcase this weekend." He also plans on attending the Badger camp at Michigan on March 28th and the Nike Combine at Ohio State on May 1st.

Growing up he was a fan of Oklahoma and liked Adrian Peterson. He currently doesn't hold on offer from the Sooners. DeAnthony made it clear that all schools are "wide open" at this point. He clearly has major programs recruiting him and will be a great addition wherever he chooses to play.

**Update 2/25/2010**

Oklahoma has now offered Arnett. Per the above, he grew up a fan of Adrian Peterson.
