Today I had a nice interview with Garrett Clark (Daytona Beach, FL) about his football recruitment. Garrett is being recruited by a ton of schools all over the southeast. His top five schools now are Georgia Tech, Georgia, Florida, Florida State and Clemson. He was supposed to attend Florida State's junior day, but was unable to make it. He was also invited to Florida's and will visit Clemson and Duke next month.
This summer he plans on attending camps at Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Alabama. Garrett told me he grew up a Georgia fan and said, "I would like to play in the SEC". Garrett plays at the same high school as 2010 wide receiver O.J. Ross (who UK recruited). Garrett informed me Rick Petri was handling his recruitment for UK, but hasn't heard from the staff since he left. He said, Petri was now recruiting him at Miami.
When I asked Garrett about his factors in choosing a school he said, "Grades first, then playing time followed by tradition". Grades will not be an issue, he currently has a 3.6 GPA and 960 SAT score. He will take the SAT again this spring.
Garrett told me he is currently 6'4" tall and weights 280 lbs. Most schools are recruiting him to play guard, but some are looking at him to play center. Based on the schools he mentioned, it sounds like staying in the southeast is important to him. Garrett was a very nice person and well spoken and clearly has a bright future ahead of him.
