Joker Phillips was on Rivals radio for about 10 minutes. The new takes every opportunity possible to sell the program. Below are a couple of things I took away from the interview:
- Kentucky football is much bigger than most realize.
- Kentucky should not be considered just a "basketball school". I've been preaching this since I started the blog. UK has some of the best facilities in the country and the fan attendance ranks in the top 25 in the country.
- The state of Kentucky typically produces 5-6 players per year who actually have the ability to play in the SEC. However, there are 10-11 players in the 2011 class that can play in the SEC.
- The quarterback competition is wide open heading into spring. I think this is great as it will push all three guys (Hartline, Newton and Mossakowski) to work harder this summer.
- Tee Martin can recruit and and Joker is expecting big things from him.
