Yesterday I interviewed Farrington Huguenin who signed with UK for their 2010 class. There have been some rumors regarding his eligibility for 2010 so I wanted to try and clear it up with him. Farrington told me he plans to enroll at UK in June, however he is waiting on his test scores (which he should have in May) to move forward. One of three things could happen. First, if the test score comes back good enough, he can enroll. Second, he could greyshirt and enroll in January. Third, he could attend a prep school for 2010. As he told me, "Either way, I'm still going to Kentucky". Based on our conversation, UK has recruited him as an "Athlete" which makes sense as Joker Phillips talked about "Tight End bodies". He told me UK recruited him to play Defensive End, Tight End or maybe Linebacker. I think the key to Huguenin's recruitment is getting on campus. Once that happens the rest will take care of itself.
Some people questioned his recruitment because he didn't have many offers. Farrington told me he likely would have signed with either Maryland or South Carolina State if UK hadn't offered. He has a tremendous upside due to his speed and footwork (4.5 forty-yard dash) which is impressive for his size. If he makes it to UK this year I think he is a candidate to redshirt to get stronger. Again, his upside is huge and he could be a big part of UK's defense for years to come if he continues to develop.

ReplyDeleteI am also his cousin(mom side). I have been there since day 1. I used 2 cheer at all the games and he played ALL sports except soccer.
