Here is my list of the Top 5 things that will be said by UK Coaches about UK Football coming out of Spring Practice.
1. The O-line is looking pretty good, but is still a work in progress. They are coming together, but there is still a ways to go. There is some talented depth, but we still need to develop more especially at the OLT position and OC position (where we are extremely young).
2. We expect an improvement at the QB position and the depth there is unlike any previous years at the school. The QBs now have a better handle on the position, and there should be a marked increase in the playmaking ability of the position.
3. The TE position is an open competition, but we think that we have the pieces there to make the position a threat in the offense. The starter is not locked in at this point, but we do have a couple of players trying to lock it down.
4. The WR position is vastly improved with Chris Matthews having a full year in the program and with LaRod King having a full year in the program. We are not as deep here as we would like in regards to playmaking ability, but there are some players that are going to have the opportunity to show that they are difference makers. The timing of the players is the most significant noticeable improvement in this area.
5. The RBs look really good. There is a great amount of depth at the position, and the ground game looks to be the strongest part of the offense. In fact, the depth is so great that we actually had to redshirt a couple of players that we though would come in and make an immediate impact for us in the running game.
