What are your thoughts on the 3 players (Riyahd Jones, Christian Coleman and Blake Terry) that have verballed to UK this week?

Jones is apparently known as a very hard worker (which is always a good sign) and has apparently really impressed at a couple of camps. Coleman and Terry each seems like big physical kids for there positions. I trust the staff and like all 3.
ReplyDeleteI am very excited about Coleman and trusting that the staff knows what the are doing with Jones. I like the fact that Terry is a hitter and a football player, but it seems to me given his size and speed that middle linebacker is the only position he could play. He is too small for DL, too slow for OLB, and frankly, maybe too short for MLB. But, I also realize that heart can make up for some of those defiencies.
ReplyDeleteI just hope the staff knows what they are doing and is not being impatient in filling up the bus too quickly.
I really like Coleman's potential at DE 2-3 years down the road. He'll eventually be a huge asset to the future of our DL. Jones, I think will prove to be an absolute steal ala Eric Simmons from last year. With Jones playing at such a visible high school program, I'd be surprised if he doesn't add some nice offers once his season gets going. Terry, well his commitment came so far out of left field that I don't feel I know enough about him yet to judge really. His Rivals film looked pretty good though. It will be interesting to see if he gets more offers/interest in the coming months.
ReplyDeleteColeman is the only one I know anything about, and that's just from watching some videos, so I could be off. He doesn't have great speed but he could improve on that with some conditioning (looks to have about 25 lbs of excess body fat). He also seems to lack ideal lower body strength (got pushed around somewhat even in his highlight videos).
ReplyDeleteThat said, he wraps up very well, and (most importantly) does a PHENOMENAL job of not giving up on the play. With some work on his body, he could be very good.
I would like to see them hold off and see if we could pickup some higher rated players. Some of the times in the 40 were not very impressive nor was the height/weight on a couple of the commits.
ReplyDeleteReally like Jones & Coleman. Concerned about Terry, he has 3 teammates who already had offers and had verballed to other BSC conference schools. so why was UK the 1st to think Terry could play at a BSC school? And in the SEC, where speed is a vital ingredient, but all those B12 teams did not think Terry worthy of an offer.
ReplyDeleteI like Terry's coachablity. He is a LB who is needed at DE this year and is willing to do it for his team. Plus gives him experience on the pass rush. Remember guys, there are a TON of talent out there that goes unnotticed. I trust in this staff, and fully believe they are going after speed players. Jones and Coleman I really like. Gotta remember, guys might not get big offers early on, some get HUGE offers their SR year in HS, so I like how this class is shaping up!
ReplyDeleteJones is a great looking prospect. He's well built and lloks like he will match up well with the SEC's bigger, more physical WR. He's well-coached and has a great, great work ethic.
ReplyDeleteTerry is a nasty sunuvagun that loves contact. He moves very well sideline to sideline and has the instincts you want in a MLB. He's a typical TX prospect that loves football wants to compete against the best.
Coleman is Jeremy Jarmon all over again. At 6'3" 250, the kid is a ready-made SEC DE. After a year with Rock, Christian is going to be an outstading player with All-SEC potential. He comes off the edge well and has the size to go inside as well.
Ultimately, these are prospects that have not gotten the attention they deserve. All appear poised for HUGE senior campaigns. As such, Joker and Co. will have their hands full holding off other BCS schools. But, I think they're solid to the 'Cats and we'll see them sign with Big Blue in February.
