Larry Vaught writes about Florida giving the Cats a reality check. While the Gators certainly looked like a No 1 team, Kentucky didn't look like an SEC team, much less a team trying to make their fourth bowl game in as many seasons.John Clay's Sunday article talks about the Cats being intimidated by the Gators. His article is correct, instead of UK coming out fighting, they came out flinching.
This game was embarrassing and the players stated they didn't want a repeat of last year, but it was worse in my opinion. This game was at home, on ESPN and Kentucky was hosting several key recruits for 2010. From the start of the game, UK shot themselves in the foot with penalties and had to burn timeouts. In speaking with several fans during and after the game, there is definitely a lot of concern about Mike Hartline. This was an opportunity for UK to show the world they have taken the next step in the SEC, which apparently they haven't.
Brett Dawson gives a short recap of the Tim Tebow hit by Taylor Wyndham. I was sitting in the end zone when Tebow got hit and the stadium went nuts. When Tebow laid motionless, everyone in my section (near the visiting fans) got really quite and then gave him a cheer when he walked off the field. It was definately a scary moment for Tebow and the Gator fans. Taylor Wyndham wasn't blocked on the play and got a clean shot at the quarterback. According to Larry Vaught, Wyndham said after the game that he hoped Tebow was okay and didn't want to be known as the guy who hurt Tim Tebow.
After the game, Randall Cobb sent out a Twitter message that said: "embarrasin somethin gotta change real quick..." Randall Cobb needs to be more active in the UK offense for this team to be successful in the SEC. In my opinion, Cobb needs at least 15 touches per game, whether it comes from punt returns, receptions, or in the wildcat formation as the QB.
On a more positive note, Freshman linebacker Ridge Wilson was reinstated today by Coach Rich Brooks. Here is the link to Rich Brooks' official statement.
Finally, UK received a commitment from Tyler Robinson (Alcoa, TN) tight-end. Robinson visited UK last week and announced his decision today. Kentucky is developing another pipeline with Alcoa as Robinson will make the third player from the school to join the UK program. Based on the reports, there are some really good underclassmen at Alcoa now too.
