SEC Commitment Comparison for 2010

Mr. SEC breaks down the SEC's commitment comparison for 2010. UK is ranked 10th in total points, but last in average point per recruit. Mr. SEC uses Rivals' rankings to formulate their comparison. What hurts UK on this comparison, is the Cats have received commitments from four players who are not ranked by rivals. Therefore, Mr. SEC gives them a 1-star ranking. Below is a snap shot of the unranked players who have committed to UK.

Mychal Bailey (Juco, LaGrange, GA), who committed to UK out of high school, but had to enroll at Southwest Mississippi Community College. Bailey runs a 4.4 forty and was considered a 2-star recruit out of high school. Any chance he is better now?

Alvin Davis (DE, Jesup, GA) who is not ranked by Rivals, but was also offered by Mississippi State while LSA and Georgia were showing interest. In my opinion, if multiple SEC schools are involved, the kid must be pretty good.

Davin Hawkins (S, Attalla, AL) who missed part of his junior season due to injury is not ranked either. Hawkins had been offered by Auburn, Arkansas and Oklahoma before he committed to UK. Any chance he should be ranked?

Eric Simmons (CB, Atlanta, GA) who runs a 4.4 forty and plays with 4-star CB Darius Robinson had started receiving interest from Mississippi State and Virginia Tech before committing to the Cats. Another recruit with BCS schools interested.

UK's football recruiting is not bad, it doesn't look great on paper, but it's not bad by any means. UK has done extremely well in finding the "hidden" recruit who ends up being a good SEC player. Remember, Trevard Lindley and Jeremy Jarmon were 2-star recruits while Randall Cobb was listed as a 3-star recruit.

Here is one more thought on recruiting rankings with team's four year star ranking average per recruit (2006-2009). Do you feel UK's football program overall is as far behind as the recruiting analysis below suggests? UK has done well the past three years and should become bowl eligible again this year. Based on recruiting, UK's best years are ahead of them. UK could easily be 6-2 instead of 4-4 right now. Please leave comments on this topic as recruiting has been a lightning rod among UK fans this year.

Georgia- 3.65
Auburn- 3.28
Alabama- 3.60
Ole Miss- 3.02
Tennessee- 3.35
South Carolina- 3.25
Kentucky- 2.50
