Nermin Delic (Dalton, GA) who had previously been committed to Maryland has changed his mind and committed to UK. Based on reports UK had offered Delic a while back, but you have to wonder if Alex Smith's commitment to UNC opened up a spot for Delic. Delic is listed as a 3-star DE/TE according to Rivals. Congratulations to Delic and UK. He appears to have the size (6'4" and 220lbs) to be a physical tight end in the SEC.

I was a bit bummed about missing out on Smith. Hopefully Delic can play well at TE, if that is where they intend him. I honestly think this offense opens up a lot with a solid TE. Cats need some consistency there.
ReplyDeleteI agree, UK needs a tight end. Some want Boyd to move there, but I don't think he has the size to block. UK has several players committed for 2010 that could play TE.

Delic headlines all-region squad
From Staff Reports
Northwest Whitfield’s Nermin Delic, who has made a verbal commitment to play at Kentucky, has been selected the 2009 All-Region 7-4A Defensive Player of the Year in a vote of region coaches.
Delic was also voted to the first-team offense as a tight end.
A 6-foot-4-inch, 240-pound senior, Delic recorded 79 tackles and caused three fumbles in helping the Bruins (7-4) reach the first round of the state Class 4A playoffs where they lost to second-ranked Southwest DeKalb, 40-3. Offensively, Delic caught four passes for 55 yards, a 13.7-yard average, and two touchdowns. He scored one defensive touchdown during the season.
Prior to his senior season, Delic committed to Mary-land, but recently changed his mind and now plans to sign with Kentucky on Feb. 3, national signing day.
Delic is joined on the all-region defensive team by teammate Jay Motley, a linebacker. Motley had 134 tackles the area’s second-leading total, recovered two fumbles and caused one.
