Wednesday Afternoon UK Football Links & Notes

Mike Hartline practiced again today, but had some swelling in his knee. Per Rich Brooks, "He's getting back in the swing pretty good". I still feel that Hartline should back up Newton this weekend against Vanderbilt.

It's still wait and see on Hartline's injury writes Chip Cosby. The coaches have not announced the starter for Saturday's game, but Hartline could possibly start. Hartline will have to really impress the coaches to start the game. Personally, I would rather bring Hartline off the bench than ask Morgan Newton to come off the bench if either struggles as the starter.

Randall Cobb practiced with a cast on today, but said he will be ready to go Saturday. This could be the first game since Louisville that UK will have all of their key players back. UK understands the importance of Saturday's game and I'm confident the Cats will be bowling again afterwards.

There will be a Chick-Fil-A Bowl Representative at the UK-Vandy game to scout the Cats as a potential participant based on reports. UK will need to finish strong to play in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl. They will need at least two more wins, probably three to get there.

Chuck Smith gives Larry Vaught some insight into the Cats 2010 recruiting class and strategy. Again, I'm confident UK will sign more high profile players for 2010 than before. UK is in the mix with several top recruits and doesn't have room for many more commitments. Smith indicates UK will likely sign around 22 recruits in February. This is a must read for football recruiting junkies.

The Cat Walk at Vanderbilt will be at 10:05 am (central time) and fans should line up near gate one outside of Natchez Trace.
