An Interview with Kody Woods

I spoke with Kody Woods, 3 * OG (ranked #39 at his position per Scout) of Pike HS (the same HS that UK Safety Dekotah Tyler is from) in Indianapolis today. Kody is literally pumped about what is happening in his life in regards to his football future.

This past week, Kody was at the Blue/Gray Combine last week in Cincy. Earlier, this spring, at the Nike Camp at OSU in Columbus OH, Kody scored the most victories in 1 on 1 position drills (the drills can be seen on his recruiting site). Woods also plans on visiting the UK Camp later this month, as well as the Michigan camp in June, and camps in Missouri, and Minnesota later this summer.
The Junior credits his Strength and Conditioning Coach at Pike (Coach Moe Sutton) with helping him get in condition for Big Time Football. Kody says that Coach Sutton has helped him get bench press up to 425 lbs. and his speed down in the 40 (5.2 sec). Woods also states that the Pike Staff is constantly holding Dekotah Tyler up to the team as a role model as to where hard work can get you!
Kody states that his toughest competition in the trenches are: Kiaro Holts (ranked #5 OT)and Kris Harley (ranked #13 DT and verbal to Va Tech.) (both of Warren Central HS), and Joel Hale (ranked #35 DT) of Center Grove HS in Greenwood (a suburb of Indy).
Woods is considering several schools including: UK, Cincy, Michigan, and Ball State. He also said that at this time he does not have any offers, but expects offers to start flooding in within the next month or so.
As far as committing goes, the Pike Junior states to look for something no earlier than the middle of the season unless a Big Time team steps up soon. He also said that he would really like to stay within a few hour drive of Indy in order for his family to see him play in college.
The National Underclassman Combine actually compares him to Steve Hutchinson of the NFL (see the above link).
One thing that he said that stuck with me: "I do not care who or how many other linemen a school signs, I will go where I feel that it is right and will take my own spot". Somehow, I think Kody will do just that!
