Former UK Linebacker, Sam Maxwell has signed to play with the defending Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints. Sam played at UK from 2006-2009. During his 1st 37 games, he logged: 47.5 Tackles (37 Solo), 8.5 Tackles for Loss, 1 Forced Fumble, 2 Fumble Recoveries, and 1 INT.
Sam's best season was his last for the Wildcats. For the 2009 season, Maxwell led the team with 6 INTs, 80 Tackles (37 Solo), 5.5 TFL, 2 FF, and 1.5 Sacks. He signs as a Free Agent for the Saints and is probably looking to begin his career on Special Teams.
My daughters got to know Sam his freshman year. He seems to be a great young man and I wish him the best.
