Today I interviewed Taven Howell (Columbus, OH) who plays at Westerville South. He currently doesn't hold any offers, but several schools are recruiting him and have invited him to summer camp to get a better look at him. The main schools showing interest are Ohio, Toledo, Connecticut, Kansas, Kentucky, Virginia, Syracuse, EKU, Central Michigan and Miami-OH. Howell doesn't have a favorite at this point and feels offers should start coming this summer.
Howell plans to attend as many camps as possible this summer. Including trips to Ball State, Ohio, Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, Michigan State, Marshall and Bowling Green. Overall he is looking for the best fit for academics and playing time. Howell stressed academics are very important as he wants to graduate.
Currently Howell is 6'1" and 225 lbs. He runs a 4.8 forty yard dash. His max on bench is 310 lbs and 450 lbs on squat. He plans on taking the ACT in June and all schools are recruiting him to play middle linebacker. Currently he is working out five days a week to get bigger, faster and stronger.
I know this kid, he is a fine young man and would be an asset to UK football. He works hard, loves football and to the best of my knowledge is academically sound. Good Luck, Taven
