John Clay has a
five spot from the Rich Brooks press conference:
- Randall Cobb will not be the starting QB. The team will add more plays to the "wildcat" package, but Cobb can't be expected to sit in the pocket and throw on a consistent basis.
- Morgan Newton will be a factor this year. The team will lift the red-shirt and Newton will battle it out with Fidler for the starting QB job.
- Special teams play is hurting this team. The kickoff team is especially scary, missed tackles and not getting the ball high or deep enough is really making it hard on the coverage.
- Trevard Lindley is out for 3-4 more games. The injury is more serious than initially thought. UK will have to work with Neloms and Burden to make sure they are up to speed.
- Failed 2-pt conversion. Why wasn't Cobb in the game at QB? Cobb said he was "gassed". The play was so important the staff should have called a timeout in my opinion. The bottom line is the play didn't work so it was the wrong call.
