Monday's lunch time UK Football Notes

The UK depth chart for the Auburn game lists Will Fidler or Morgan Newton as the starting quarterback. Chances are we will see both at some point during the game. It doesn't seem like Rich Brooks' style to start a freshman on the road during SEC play. Brooks stated that Fidler should be far ahead of Newton due to his experience, but is not sure that's the case. Either Newton has improved or the coach is trying to send a message to Fidler to step up.

Corey Peters has been named SEC defensive lineman of the week. Peters recorded 7 tackles and 2.5 sacks against South Carolina. Brooks call Corey Peters one of the most "underrated"players on UK's defense. South Carolina WR Alshon Jeffrey was name SEC freshman of the week for this three TD's against the Cats.

Trevard Lindley, Paul Warford, Justin Jeffries and Mike Hartline are all listed at the bottom of the UK depth chart as doubtful. Rich Brooks thinks Lindley could be out 3-4 more weeks and Warford will be evaluated again this week. UK could really use Warford this weekend.

Mike Hartline has no ACL damage, but complete tear of the MCL. The team will evaluate his progress in 3-4 weeks. It is possible that Hartline will return before the end of the season.

Ryan Mossakowski will receive some snaps this week as well and will be UK's emergency third string QB.

Taylor Wyndham will start at left end this week opposite DeQuinn Evans. I thought Wyndham played well against South Carolina so getting the start is a nice reward for playing hard.
