With the decade coming to an end and the UK football program on the rise, I thought it would be fun to name an All-Decade Team. Please vote in the comment section so we can decide on the UK Player of the Decade. If I missed someone, please let me know as well. If your argument is justified, I will be glad to add them to the list.

Great List!!
ReplyDeleteBill
Jeff Snedegar (spelling might be incorrect) was by far a better LB than Micah
ReplyDeleteLooks like there will be what 4 OLineman (Z Duncan, C Johnson (injuries?), J Gonzalez, and J Jeffries (maybe not?)with a shot at the NFL this year?
ReplyDeleteThen Add: John Connor, C Peters, S Maxwell, M Johnson, T Lindley, C Harrison, and possibly A Cobb (maybe).
Yet people say this program is stagnant and not progressing forward.
Remember the days when we had noone who would even make honorable mention for the SEC teams? much less be drafted.
WOW, just WOW
Bill
Jeff Snedegar played in the 90's.
ReplyDeleteAbney as WR? Hmmm? Snedegar was a bad boy nonetheless.

My take on this All-Decade Team:
ReplyDeleteQB--Has to be Woodson. Lorenzen wasn't bad either.
RB--Pinner over Little. He could pound the rock!
FB--Conner. No Contest.
WR(2)--Burton & S. Johnson. Some people will say where's Lyons & Abney or Cobb? These two were the most talented--period.
TE--Tamme. Still waiting for another like him.
OT--Garry Williams & Omar Smith (2 NFL Offensive Tackles). Omar played Center for the NY Giants. He was All-SEC at UK.
OG--No disrespect to Rollins & Leger, but this year's combo of C. Johnson & S. Hines are the two best. Warford will be on this list soon. Sylvester Miller was a good one also.
C--Have to go w/ Jorge Gonzalez. He's held up against Mount Cody of Alabama, etc. & was a better Center physically than McCutchan.
DE--J. Jarmon & V. Burns. D. Johnson had all the hype, but these two were the most productive. Don't sleep on V. Jenkins--I'd actually have to take him if we were drafting a team.
DT--D. Robertson & M. Pryor. Peters is legit, but I'd have to take these two. HM to J. Caudill & E. Moore--2 solid DT's.
OLB--W. Woodyard & S. Maxwell. I love B. Kelley, but Maxwell is the better player.
MLB--M. Johnson is a beast who's best football is ahead of him in the NFL.
CB--Good call on T. Lindley & B. Smith. Smith was headed to the NFL before an unfortunate incident at UK.
FS & SS--M. McClinton & M. McCree (even though he played WLB at UK).
PK--T. Begley, I guess...Have we really had a good one since D. Pelfrey? I hope Mansour is a great one!
P--Pakulak. Masthay for Kick-Offs.
RET--Abney. I love Cobb, Lyons, etc. but Abney was a threat to score more often than not!!
Coach--R. Brooks & G. Morriss
This was fun. I'd like to do one for the '80s & '90s sometime.
Also,
ReplyDeleteI meant to say R. Brooks of course at Coach w/ honorable mention to Guy Morriss (Brooks is in a class by himself though).
The biggest loss was Curtis Pulley--hands down. He could've made us a 10 win Football Team after the Woodson era??? We'll never know. He's tearing it up at Florida A&M though.
Best Recruit to never make it to campus--I'd have to go w/ D.J. Stafford, DT / DE from LaGrange, GA. Can you say NFL D-Lineman?
This is fun...
I agree with the poster above. Steve Johnson should make it, if not at least an honorable mention at WR.
