Matt Lentz gives up football

UK's Matt Lentz has decided to give up football due to the number of concussions he has suffered playing the sport. In my opinion, this is a huge blow to the Cats as Lentz was a very solid football player. Recently the staff announced Lentz would move from Strong Safety to Linebacker and many fans were excited. Unfortunately, it's a move that will never take place. Lentz has a tremendous amount of football IQ and most felt he would blossom at strong side linebacker. Regardless, it sounds like this is the best thing for Matt's health and future. We wish him the best of luck.

  2. This news actually made me depressed. I love Matt. He played with a lot of energy and passion. Don't know him personally, but met him once and watched him interact with fans after games. Very nice guy.

  3. Sounds like he might make a pretty good addition to someones coaching staff in the not-to-distant future.

  4. Yes, he will still be involved with UK football. He could end up being a coach someday. He played QB before moving to Safety. He is very football smart.
